R. Shayne Floyd is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and bluegrass storyteller whose sound bridges Appalachian roots and modern Americana. Formerly fronting the band River Boy, Floyd released his solo album Heights of the Land on February 3, 2025—a collection of 13 originals, one cover, and a traditional ballad—marking a warm, introspective turn in his artistry. Now based in Saluda, NC, he writes songs steeped in mountain traditions with the heart of a traveler: gentle guitar lines, haunting melodies, and heartfelt vocals. His upcoming live shows, including Saluda’s Top of the Grade Concert Series, feature Floyd alongside pedal steel, fiddle, bass, and drums, shaping performances that feel both intimate and expansive. Sun-soaked yet contemplative, his music invites connection, reflection, and a deep-rooted sense of place.
Bring your lawn chairs or cushions to enjoy the amphitheater seating, and feel free to pack a picnic or order a delicious to-go meal from one of Saluda's local restaurants. Beer and wine are welcome within the seating area, though please remember alcohol isn't permitted on the playground or in the parking lot.
