CGMS meeting and Fluorescent Minerals Presentation

Join your local rock club, Columbine Gem and Mineral Society for a family-friendly event on August 14, 6:30 p.m. Mount Shavano Manor in Salida!

We'll start with a short educational activity, followed by an exciting presentation about fluorescent minerals. We'll do a little club business and finish off with a free give-away of fluorescent minerals! This month's presentation: The Mysteries of Fluorescent Minerals – Colorado and beyond by Pete Modreski, retired U.S. Geological Survey in public communications and community & educational outreach. Pete will talk about fluorescent minerals, particularly from Colorado, and about how new improved kinds of UV lights have pretty much revolutionized fluorescent mineral collecting!
