Les jolies choses de Catherine Gaudet a remporté le Grand Prix de la danse de Montréal 2022 et a conquis le public européen. La chorégraphe montréalaise soumet cinq corps au rythme implacable d’un métronome dont le tempo s’accélère imperceptiblement, pulsé par la musique minimaliste et hypnotique d’Antoine Berthiaume. Les gestes des interprètes s’enchaînent avec une précision et un synchronisme absolus. De la contrainte naît un espace d’émancipation. Catherine Gaudet's Les jolies choses won the Grand Prix de la danse de Montréal 2022 and won over European audiences. The Montreal choreographer subjects five bodies to the relentless rhythm of a metronome whose tempo accelerates imperceptibly, pulsating to Antoine Berthiaume's minimalist, hypnotic music. The dancers' movements follow one another with absolute precision and synchronicity. Constraint gives way to emancipation. The dramatic intensity electrifies the bodies and the audience in an irresistible crescendo. This tour de force, where the energy never falters, is captivating from start to finish.
