An underseen @a24 entry, and a poetic and quietly powerful debut, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘉𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘔𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘚𝘢𝘯 𝘍𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘰 follows Jimmie, a young man clinging to a fading dream: reclaiming the majestic Victorian house his grandfather built in a rapidly gentrifying neighborhood. Directed by Joe Talbot and starring Jimmie Fails (playing a version of himself), the film is equal parts memoir, myth, and protest.
With sweeping cinematography, a stunning score by Emile Mosseri, and some unforgettable performances, it’s a love letter to a city in flux—and a deeply personal meditation on memory, place, and the fight to belong.
