Sweetgrass and Soul Food: Book Release Party + COMMUNITY GATHERING

Join author Marique B. Moss for the official release of Sweetgrass and Soul Food: A Memoir in Poems, a deeply personal and powerful Afro-Indigenous collection rooted in identity, survival, community, and healing. This FREE community gathering is hosted by Mashkiki Studios and Indigenous Roots, and is open to all.

Come celebrate with live poetry readings, soulful music, and vibrant cultural offerings that reflect the richness of Afro-Indigenous experience. Marique will be signing books and companion journals, offering guests the opportunity to connect directly with the author and her story.

Enjoy a full BBQ Brunch Soul Food menu, featuring Ribs, Baked Mac and Cheese, Collard Greens, Red Beans and Rice, Cornbread, and more , all cooked and served by local Black and Native uncles. Plus, vegan desserts by @VeganWitt and a refreshing Peach Cobbler Refresher by IRoots Café.

A silent auction fundraiser will also take place to support the Indigenous Roots Cultural Center, helping fund building repairs and future safety improvements. Items include handcrafted wild ricing sticks, a cedar feather box, a cedar planter box, bear grease jars, and more.
