The Rondo Block Party (www.rondoblockparty.com) is back for its 3rd year and will be held on Saturday, August 2nd, from 11AM until 6PM at the Rondo Commemorative Plaza, 820 Rondo Ave, St. Paul, MN.
This exciting community event, planned by Rondo natives and community members, celebrates the rich and diverse history of St. Paul's historic Rondo neighborhood.
After two great years we're continuing to elevate the experience and celebrate Rondo. Attendees can look forward to local live music that will get everyone dancing, delectable food offerings that will delight your palate, and a variety of activities to keep the entire family engaged throughout the day.
Our location at 820 Rondo Ave provides space to enjoy the festivities leaving more room for a vibrant marketplace, a diverse food court, local dance groups and artists, and tons of FREE activities for young and old.
This event is more than just a block party; it’s a tribute to the unique, vibrant, and dynamic essence of Rondo. The Rondo neighborhood was a significant cultural, residential, and business hub for the Black community in Saint Paul throughout much of the 20th century. The construction of the Interstate 94 freeway in the late 1950s and 1960s tragically displaced over 650 families and numerous businesses, deeply impacting the community. Despite these challenges, Rondo has evolved into a diverse and vibrant area, with both long-time residents and newcomers contributing to its revitalization. This event aims to honor the past, celebrate the present, and foster unity and cultural pride as we reconnect the threads of our shared history.
