University of Illinois Wildlife Rescue Program

Come meet some of the University of Illinois' Wildlife Rescue residents on Monday, June 30th at 6 p.m.

Their mission is to provide care and treatment to sick, injured and orphaned wild animals, offer hands-on training to veterinary students, and educate members of our community about coexisting with native Illinois wildlife.

What makes the UI Wildlife Rescue unique is that it is almost completely run by volunteers.

They will talk a little more in depth about the clinic such as what patients they see, and how it runs.

They will explain the ambassador animals program introducing the ambassadors attending the event. They will introduce the animals attending, give their story on why they are still at the rescue. They will also share fun facts about the species, some information about the individual animal, and then why we see them in the clinic and how you can help them in the wild.

Although they live in the clinic and are tolerant of people, the resident animals are not pets. They now serve as ambassadors of their species and help the rescue educate the public about wildlife, conservation, and ecosystem health.

There will be a time for questions at the end the program.
