House in the Park

The Hypocaust Building in Verulamium Park protects an almost perfectly preserved mosaic along with its underfloor heating system, the hypocaust.

This was just one room of a magnificent mansion, surely owned by one of the elite of Verulamium. Hear more about the house, the mosaic and how the heating system worked.

The story of the Roman Town of Verulamium comes to life in these regular gallery talks on a variety of subjects every weekend at Verulamium Museum. This talk is on the House in the Park (the Hypocaust) and will take place at the Hypocaust building.
