Meditative, Daylong Retreat with SIM Founding Teacher Dennis Warren
Retreat Theme: Letting Go
This one-day retreat/workshop will explore the core Buddhist teaching and practice of letting go—what it means, why it matters, and how it leads to greater freedom and peace.
The concept of letting go – relinquishment, releasing, allowing – is essential to understanding Buddhist psychology and methods. The experience of letting go is the center piece of practice that slowly freeing the mind and heart from struggle and suffering.
But how does one actually let go? This will be the focus of this day of practice.
We’ll use practical, real-life situations to help participants connect their own experiences with the teachings. We’ll investigate the process of letting go and its development as an on-going, daily gesture of wisdom and compassion. The day will also examine common misunderstandings - such as equating letting go with suppression, indifference, avoidance or by passing - and offer reflections, meditation methods, and mantras for daily use.
The subject matter of this one-day will be appropriate for all stages of practice. In person only. No Zoom. Plan on staying on-site for the who day. Bring your own lunch, as well as a pen and note book.
