GATHER with Chef Byron: A Story of Sacramento

This month, GATHER welcomes Guest Chef Byron of Last Supper Society and Restaurant XO. His menu is meant to share the story of Sacramento, as told by a descendant of the West End; the story of its streets, of its waterways... the story of the people that give/gave this place its signature flavor.

Welcome Drink by Debbie Wu Chang
First: Bread service - XO focaccia + ginger scallion butter (gluten free bread option available*)
Second: Brandy-fried maiitake, Chinese hot mustard, chili oil "b"
Third: Sacramento Valley vegetable presentation
Fourth: Miso sturgeon, spring onion soubise, wild mushrooms
Fifth: Charcoal-grilled strawberry, burnt meringue, grilled castella cake (gluten free cake option available*)
Each ticket includes one welcome drink, curated for the meal by Debbie Wu Chang. Additional beverages are available by the glass.

**Please note: for this GATHER, there will be gluten free option for each course (please indicate this at checkout). Although much of the menu is vegan, we will not be able to offer a 100% vegan menu for every single course as we normally do. Please reach out (

A percentage of profits will be donated to a local Sacramento nonprofit organization working towards social justice and community empowerment.

GATHER is a monthly dinner series organized by J (Brown Rice Bakery) in collaboration with rotating guest chefs, at Propagate Plants & Gatherings. The series highlights BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), LGBTQ+, and other under- and mis-represented chefs to showcase their culinary creativity and culture through curated dining experiences.
