Rutland’s chimney swifts are back, and so are we! After a great turnout at our first Swifties Unite event, we’re doing it again on Wednesday, July 2. Join us for food, drinks, and birds as we gather on the patio at The Mad Rose to watch chimney swifts circle and dive into the old Herald Building chimney.
At the last event, we learned that the swifts tend to dive in small groups, not all at once (at least for now) around 8:50 PM. While we’re still waiting for the biggest dives of the summer (likely mid-to-late July when fledglings join the flock), every night brings its own magic in the sky.
This is a great chance to:
-Catch a unique natural spectacle right in downtown Rutland
-Support local businesses
-Connect with neighbors
-Learn more about how the future hotel project and local partners like Two Shea’s are stepping up to protect swift habitat
Whether you're a bird nerd, a curious neighbor, or just in it for a good drink and a good sky, you’re invited!
🦅 Come for the birds. Stay for the vision.
