Prescribed Burns- Why they are an important tool for prairie management

Prescribed Fire has been used as a land management tool for a long time, but not one often talked about. During this event we will talk about why fire is an important tool for the management of prairies in Indiana landscape and will see first hand an example of who a prairie want to revert to forest if left unmanaged.
We will meet at Riverside Amphitheater on Monday August 18th at 6 pm before walking to our to the .6 acre prairie that we will be discussing. If mobility is an issue, you can drive to the prairie area.
Bug spray and bringing water is advised. We will be walking on a trail or mowed grass so long pants or boots are not necessary.
