In yogic philosophy, there are 8 ways, or limbs, to find the state of being that is called yoga. We can view yoga as either unification with our ultimate self, atman or soul, or as a disentanglement from whatever stops us feeling free, helping us attain moksha or freedom.
Today, we hope to explore some of the 8 different limbs of yoga: yama (moral restraints), niyama (observanaces), asana (poses), pranayama (breath techniques), pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses), dharana (focussed concentration), dyhana (meditation) and samadhi (bliss).
We'll try to start our day outside with some standing practices - we'll provide mats for outside if we need them. Then we'll head inside for practices that require a bit more floor time. We will lead you through slow yoga flows to stretch and open ourselves up a little bit.
After a tea break, we'll rug up and walk in nature. We'll practice some easy forest bathing techniques, hopefully enjoying some sunny Spring weather, and work up an appetite for our tasty vegetarian lunch.
Our afternoon will include guided relaxation to help us withdraw from our senses, concentration, meditation and then hopefully a little bit of bliss!
Try to arrive between 9.30 & 9.45 so you have time to set up your little nest with cushions, blankets and your yoga mat. Help yourself to a hot drink & a bit of chat with the other attendees and we will get started at 10am. Lunch will be about 1pm and we will attempt to finish promptly at 3pm.
The day will cost £50 including hot drinks and our trademark flapjacks. All food will be vegetarian and alternative milks will be on offer. Please let us know before the day if you are vegan or have any allergies.
