Draw, dance and play - translating dance into other forms with Karina!

Learning and remembering everything from class isn’t easy. There are rhythms, choreographies, the ways you move through space, the tiny details in connection. Our brains try to translate one ‘language’ (sound, text, movement, graphic) to another. Whether it's a scatted rhythm, or hearing to ‘move your body in a moon shape’. How could we help ourselves take in new information, or express our ideas? If music has a standardised notation system, could we do the same with dance?
In this workshop we will play with all sorts of translations and scores. We will explore making and interpreting each other's notations and breaking down individual elements of dance. We will experiment how scores can be used as a form of instructions or as a tool to document or create. The afternoon will be filled with games and conceptual exercises that will help you explore making dance notes and score-making beyond movement.
