We are delighted to bring you an afternoon of blues dance with Renske Bongers & Dara Anderbard!
Together Dara & Renske have this sweet balance between knowledge, body awareness and seriously goofing around while teaching together.
They’re really excited to join forces and give you a valuable Blues experience on Saturday the 13th of September.
Workshop 1: Improve your Blues
13:30-15:00
In this first workshop we will deep dive in how to use pulse to find common ground in our connection. Using different ways and bringing more clarity into our leading and following. Next on we’ll explore concepts of call & response and dancing in and out of harmony to move away from and find the common ground again. During this workshop we’ll not only gain more knowledge and understanding of our connection, but also about Blues structure in music.
Workshop 2: Latin Rhythms in Blues
15:30-17:00
One of the main aesthetics of Blues Dancing is (auditory and visual) rhythmic movement. During this workshop we’ll get a better understanding of how to dance on the unique and complex Latin rhythms which can be incorporated in Blues dancing. We’ll learn which Latin rhythms there are, how to dance to and lead and follow them. Let’s explore this unique flavour and complexity together with our amazing teachers!
📅When?: 13 September, 1330 - 1700
💶Cost: €30,- per workshop & €55,- for both
📶 Level: Open - Everyone is welcome to register. Knowledge of concepts as blues posture, groundedness, pulse and lag, as well as experience in any partnered dance, is recommended.
🔄 Roles: During the workshops we work with fixed roles. At registration you can choose between lead, follow or switch.
Optional: You can join the class with a fixed partner or rotate within smaller groups. Just give a little head’s up when you enter the class or get in touch with Beau van der Giessen (Signal, FB or IG). With this option we hope to give everyone the best learning experience.
