Afrodesia Afro Funky Night
Open Jam Session after!
Afrodesia is the summer session by the Rotterdam percussion/drum duo Daan Arets and Steven Brezet, in collaboration with guitarist Valentijn Bannier. These three key figures in the Dutch afro, jazz, and world music scene deliver a high-energy live experience full of grooves, improvisation, and rhythmic richness.
The music is deeply rooted in the Afrobeat tradition of artists like Fela Kuti, but in the hands of this group, it takes on a fresh and contemporary character. Expect a powerful mix of West African percussion, jazzy horns, Brazilian influences, and funk.

Valentijn Bannier has worked with Zuco 103, Ruben Hein, and Lefties Soul Connection, and is co-founder of the band Koffie. Steven Brezet is internationally active in Latin and world music and has performed in Senegal, Curaçao, Morocco, and Brazil. Daan Arets is a highly sought-after drummer involved in a wide range of jazz and crossover projects.
