Whether you answered yes or no, John Goldsmith can explain how those three questions are related. The founder and curator of the DeMoulin Museum in Greenville, Illinois (rated Major Fun by Roadside America), Goldsmith has a trunk of gadgets that will amuse and possibly astound you.
John Goldsmith is considered the foremost expert on DeMoulin history. His interest in the factory came from his mother, Norma, a 50-year employee of the company until her passing in 2007. In 2004, he self-published Three Frenchmen and a Goat: The DeMoulin Bros. Story, a history of the company. In 2010, he founded the DeMoulin Museum, which annually is listed among the quirkiest travel destinations in the United States. Goldsmith and the museum have been featured on the television programs Small Town Big Deal, Pawn Stars, Heartland Highways, Illinois Adventures, and Illinois Stories. He has been a featured speaker at venues from coast to coast. In 2018, he was the recipient of the National Society Daughters of American Revolution’s Historic Preservation Medal.
