Grab your gear and your good vibes—Goose Island needs your help! Join our awesome summer intern, Emily, for a morning of shoreline stewardship as we clean up wind-blown litter along the beautiful bayfront.
Why We Need You:
Even with regular dumpster service, strong coastal winds can scatter trash before it’s collected. That litter can end up in the bay, harming wildlife and spoiling the view. That’s where you come in—lend a hand and be a hero for our shorebirds, crabs, and fish!
🗓 Event Details:
📅 When: Friday, July 25 | 9:00 AM
📍 Where to Meet: Picnic Area Parking Lot
⏱ Duration: 1–2 hours of easy walking over mostly flat terrain
🧰 What to Bring:
- Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen)
- A refillable water bottle
- Close-toed shoes (some areas may be muddy—boots or waders recommended!)
- A positive attitude and a love for nature 🌞
- We’ll keep you cool and comfortable with multiple water stations along the way.
👨👩👧👦 Who Can Join:
All ages and abilities are welcome! Kids must stay with their grown-ups for the entire event. This is a great way for families, scout groups, and friends to give back together!
🦺 What We Provide:
We’ve got you covered with safety vests, gloves, and litter bags. A limited number of trash grabbers will be available—first come, first served!
👕 Pro Tips:
Dress smart! Long-sleeved UV shirts and lightweight pants offer great sun and bug protection (though the breezy bay usually keeps the mosquitoes away).
Make a difference, get outside, and enjoy the bay breeze—all before lunch! See you there!
