Hello Community friends & Neighbors -- the MacDougal Garden is in need of some lovin' -- if you love weeding (or maybe just want to help spruce up a community space) -- please join us this Sunday morning at 9am.
Bring your gloves and favorite weeding tools.
The MacDougal Community Garden began back in 2017 by a small group of volunteers who had a vision for growing food for our community in a prominent space that is prime for gathering.
Over the years the garden has served, not only as a source of donated veggies to our local AIO food pantry, but as a source of camaraderie and companionship.
Partly due to sudden loss last year of one of its core volunteers and founders, Zander Shaw and personal and life challenges of other volunteers involved—the project is now in a bit of an ebb and in need of some new volunteer energy.
In addition to a sprucing up this weekend, the garden is seeking some new volunteers.
Ongoing volunteer work involves weekly work gatherings throughout the summer, which typically happen on Sundays at 9 or 10, depending on the weather; other needs are watering throughout the week.
Annual needs involve winter meetings to plan the garden plantings for the year.
An additional need right now is for some sprucing up of the wood chip paths (if you have a pickup truck and are willing, we could use a load or two of hemlock chips from NC Hunt down in Damariscotta.
If you are interested in getting involved, please email

Thank you!
