Experience of the concept of 'tender' in relation to the memories we hold dear.
It can be connected to I tems that reflect you inner and outer world experience, such as personal ephemera or memorabilia such as photographs, keepsakes. Maybe items collected or found that trigger memories of home. Consider how these items may be contained/ presented, for example, in a frame, box, bowl, bag, case, or cloth.
Bring your chosen items along to the gallery to share and discuss with the group, then, under the guidance of Tender exhibiting artists Sue Leeming and Annette Peterson, the group will assemble all items brought along to create a collaborative installation. The final assemblage will be professionally photographed for participants to receive as a memento of the workshop. Once photographed, the assemblage will be dismantled for you to take your precious items home.
(Participation in the final assemblage is optional.)
About the facilitators
Sue Leeming, a New Zealand-born visual artist based in the Peel region of WA, explores abstraction, landscape, identity and spirituality primarily through painting, drawing and mixed media. Her intuitive, meditative works merge memory and experience, expressing a deep connection to land and revealing the unseen aspects of her inner world.
Annette Peterson, a contemporary artist born in Norway, combines plein-air oil painting and photography to capture light and colour in landscapes. Her journalism background helps her document everyday life, while her psychology studies influence her exploration of the human psyche, merging narrative history and trauma with portrait painting.
