The Bears has been the home of the Grice Family for many years, and though this day is celebrating Blair, Ange, Milla, Harper & Luca in particular we are also recognising the innumerable volunteer hours as coaches, managers, canteen helpers and as players and supporters within the extended family over the years also.
This year is the first year that Harper has not played football for The Bears as he has enrolled in the army following in his Father’s Footsteps and is currently undertaking his basic training. Sadly for us this year will also be the last year that Luca plays for The Bears as she also will be setting off on her next adventure when she graduates this year and Milla has been playing for Bluebirds United for the last few years as at the time we didn’t have a women’s team for her to play in. Therefore we want to get everyone together and celebrate and have picked this date as The Bears play Blueys so the girls will play each other. The FQPL U23 & Mens teams will also be playing Blueys and our Bears Teams have players that have been teammates with Milla, H & Luca or played or coached alongside Blair.
In consultation with Milla & Luca it has been decided that on this day in honour of Blair & Ange we will be fundraising for two charities which have been picked by them and are close to all our hearts. The first charity is Cancer Council Queensland and the second is Beyond Blue.
To raise money for Cancer Council Queensland we are holding a Multidraw Raffle with 100% of proceeds from ticket sales being donated.
To raise money for Beyond Blue all three matches scheduled for the day have been registered as Mental Health Matches with players encouraged to add blue to their uniforms, there will also be a gold coin admission on the day and a QR Code for any other donations
