The Ontario Beach Park Program Committee is excited to announce
a June 26-29 visit of the historic schooner When and If to the Port of Rochester on Lake Ontario. Based in Key West, Florida and Salem, Massachusetts, the 83-foot schooner was built in 1939 for legendary General George Patton. Patton’s dream was to sail around the world “when the war is over, and if I live through it.”
The presence of When and If at the Port of Rochester will surely evoke our own rich maritime history and traditions.
The schooner will host public ninety-minute day sails and sunset sails during its visit to Rochester, and will also be available for group charters. Day sails are $69 per person, and twilight sails are $89 per person; sails do not include food or beverages
(other than provided iced bottled water). This will be the sole chance in 2025 for the public to sail upon such a ship out of the Port of Rochester.
For more information about the schooner, or to inquire about group charters during the Rochester visit, go to

A portion of the proceeds from the sails help support free Wednesday concerts, Harborfest and other free events at the beach and Port, The Ontario Beach Park Program Committee (OBPPC) is a Not for Profit, 501(c)(3) corporation dedicated to producing free and low cost family entertainment events in Ontario Beach Park, the Port of Rochester harbor and the lower Genesee river area in Rochester, New York.
