In celebrating our 5-year anniversary this year, our INAUGURAL conference, Abolition: A Practice of Resistance & Resilience, will provide a platform for dreamers, believers, organizers, impacted individuals, and allies to reflect on our present circumstances, the sordid history of state-sanctioned violence in our community, and strategize solutions we can organize toward.
Philip V McHarris, our keynote speaker and the author of the revered text Beyond Policing, reminds us: “We must have the courage to imagine new worlds and develop the power to create that which we imagine. Not because it is easy or guaranteed but simply because it is our only option.”
Throughout the conference, we will engage in conversations and workshops that foreground abolition as a site of struggle and imagination as it pertains to policing, immigration, solidarity, and safety. We must prepare to confront the underlying conditions that produce harm while affirming our shared capacity to build something different.
Join us as we imagine, strategize, and build toward abolitionist futures.
Folks who have been formerly incarcerated will gain free admission to the conference. Please send us a message to receive the discount code. Additionally, if you’d like to attend but cost is a barrier, please reach out.
