Songlines: a presentation of music and poetry

Jazz poet T.J. Anderson is the headliner at Songlines, a presentation of music and poetry at
St Elizabeth's Episcopal Church, 2339 Grandin Road, on Saturday, July 12, 2025, 7 p.m.

Anderson, a professor of English at Hollins University, sings and recites original jazz-influenced poetry accompanied by free-flowing live music by Harvey Murdoch and dance interpretation by Tahitia Woods.
The program also includes music and poetry by St. Elizabeth's music director Randy Walker, who will provide piano accompaniment while Deacon Dick Willis presents the
poems.

The event is a benefit for Cardinal News, an online, nonprofit, nonpartisan newspaper covering Southside and Southwest Virginia. Cardinal News was created in 2021 to help fill
the news void created by layoffs in the corporate-owned newspapers that serve the region.
Founding Editor Dwayne Yancey will speak on Cardinal's mission.
