SWVA’s most experienced funky DJ duo Star City Soul Club are joined by special guests Stimulator Jones and Chicago-born musician/record collector Melody Mundaca.
Samuel Jones Lunsford aka Stimulator Jones is a musician, producer, vocalist and DJ from Roanoke who has been active for over two decades and released a ton of records along the way spanning a dizzying range of styles. His music has been pressed to vinyl by numerous independent labels such as Stones Throw, Craigie Knowes, Star Creature, Be With, and Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings - among others. His most popular track, “Soon Never Comes”, a silky slice of 90s-flavored hip hop soul, has garnered over 9 million streams and includes Billie Eilish among its fans.
From exploring local and online music communities in the early 2000s to singing, writing original material and digging through vinyl today, Melody Mundaca’s deep love for music across genres shines through in her diverse taste ranging from House, Disco, Funk, Soul, R&B, Latin, and beyond.
Star City Soul Club has scoured the planet for the finest rare and familiar funky and worldly jams for a combined half century.
