No one enters Paradise except one who is a Muslim, who affirms the Oneness of Allah Almighty, and who follows the message of His Prophet Muhammad ﷺ after his mission. Allah, Glorified and Exalted be He, does not accept any religion other than Islam. Whoever dies upon a religion other than Islam will be in the Hellfire, no matter how many good deeds he performed, because such deeds are not accepted by Allah without monotheism and true faith.
First: Islam is the only religion accepted by Allah
Allah the Exalted said:
“Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam.”
[Surah Aal ’Imran: 19]
And He said:
“And whoever desires a religion other than Islam—it will never be accepted from him, and in the Hereafter he will be among the losers.”
[Surah Aal ’Imran: 85]
These verses are a definitive text that Allah does not accept from His servants any religion other than Islam. Whoever chooses another path has lost both this life and the Hereafter.
Second: Islam is the religion of all the Prophets
All the prophets were Muslims, and their true religion was Islam—that is, submission to Allah through monotheism and obedience to Him.
Allah the Exalted said about Ibrahim (Abraham), peace be upon him:
“Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian, but he was a true Muslim, inclining to truth.”
[Surah Aal ’Imran: 67]
And He said about Yusuf (Joseph), peace be upon him:
“Cause me to die a Muslim and join me with the righteous.”
[Surah Yusuf: 101]
And He said about Musa (Moses), peace be upon him:
“And Moses said, ‘O my people, if you have believed in Allah, then rely upon Him, if you should be Muslims.’”
[Surah Yunus: 84]
And He said about ’Isa (Jesus), peace be upon him:
“But when Jesus sensed disbelief from them, he said, ‘Who are my supporters for (the cause of) Allah?’ The disciples said, ‘We are the supporters of Allah. We have believed in Allah, and bear witness that we are Muslims.’”
[Surah Aal ’Imran: 52]
Whoever followed Jesus or Moses upon monotheism in their time was considered a Muslim according to the law of that time. However, after the mission of Muhammad ﷺ, whoever does not follow him is considered a disbeliever, even if they claim to follow previous messengers, because Allah’s religion after the mission of Muhammad ﷺ is Islam according to his Shariah alone.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“By Him in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad, there is none from this nation, be he Jew or Christian, who hears of me and then dies without believing in that with which I was sent, except that he will be among the inhabitants of the Hellfire.”
[Reported by Muslim]
Third: The disbeliever’s good deeds are not accepted, and his destiny is Hell
No matter how much charity, kindness, or good a disbeliever does, his deeds are invalid before Allah because they are not founded on faith or monotheism.
Allah the Exalted said:
“And We will regard what they have done of deeds and make them as dust dispersed.”
[Surah Al-Furqan: 23]
Conclusion:
1. No one enters Paradise except a monotheistic Muslim.
2. Whoever dies upon a religion other than Islam after the mission of Muhammad ﷺ is a disbeliever and will abide eternally in Hell.
3. The good deeds of a disbeliever are not accepted as long as he does not embrace Islam.
4. Islam is the religion of all prophets. Whoever followed them upon monotheism in their time was a Muslim. But today, only following the Shariah of Muhammad ﷺ is accepted.
