Colors of the Organ

Does the world have you seeing red or feeling blue? Well get back in the pink with “Colors of the Organ” a concert of multi-hued music featuring our magnificent Aeolian-Skinner

instrument. Organist Robert Phillips has compiled a program that includes compositions from four centuries—some familiar ditties some known only to nerdy organists but all related to the concept of color. You’ll hear blue-tinged light jazz from the pens of Dave Brubeck and Leroy Anderson. You’ll meditate on “Red Dragonfly” a traditional Japanese melody and inhale the “Sweetness of the Flowering Lavender Fields” of Provence in an impressionistic depiction by Eugène Reuchsel. You’ll watch the white clouds roll by on a sultry Wisconsin afternoon and pick some black cherries to pass the time. There will be visits from a dancing red-nosed reindeer and an unfashionably late bunny from Alice in Wonderland. There will be a colorful number from Disney’s "Pocahontas."

Admission to the performance is free and a freewill offering will be taken for the Organ Dedicated Fund. An anonymous donor has offered to match all contributions so your generosity will be doubly effective! Our sanctuary will be air conditioned.
