Michael Daves is one of the most acclaimed guitarists and singers working in bluegrass today. A hugely entertaining, high energy solo performer, he combines a love of traditional material with a distinctive and original style and jaw-dropping virtuosity. Michael was Grammy nominated for his duo album with Chris Thile, and has collaborated with dozens of renowned names in American roots music, including Billy Strings, Bruce Molsky, Brittany Haas, Tony Trischka, Aoife O’Donovan and many more.

Originally from the state of Georgia, where he was raised steeped in traditional music, for the past 20 years Michael has been a keystone of the thriving bluegrass & Americana scene in New York City. He has performed a long running residency at legendary folk venue the Rockwood Music Hall and he regularly appears at folk and bluegrass festivals around the world, most recently in his duo with mandolinist Jacob Jolliff. Michael is a simply mesmerising solo performer, and we’re delighted to have snapped him up for an intimate gig in West Yorkshire, on one of his rare trips to the UK.
This event is a co-promotion between North Music and Dark Woods Coffee's Red Deer Club. It will take place at Dark Woods Coffee, in their delightful mill building close to the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, between Marsden and Slaithwaite. Local Americana duo Phrase & Fable will play a short opening set showcasing their evocative songs and glorious vocal harmonies, and there will be a licensed bar provided by the neighbouring Zapato Brewery Tap. An evening of exceptional American roots music, not to be missed!
