DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT:
"Place of Comfort" Kiki Ball is a celebration of the healing power of chosen spaces and the safety of self-expression that comes with it.
Ballroom has long served as a sanctuary for queer communities, providing a safe space in a very unwelcoming world. It became a platform for those who felt unseen and unheard, providing a distraction from the hardships of everyday life through it's competitive aspect as participants compete in multiple beauty, fashion and performance (voguing) categories. On the other side, ballroom became a place of comfort for many, united by similar struggles and finding peace through the community.
This ball, inspired by the comforting touch of ballroom, explores the very idea of comfort -- not just a place or an object though, but comfort as a feeling.
That sense of comfort, however, is different for everyone: some may find it in a place, a memory, a sound, a material... Whether it's the warmth of a familiar object, the embrace of a friend, — comfort is what makes a place into a home.

We challenge you to interpret what comfort means to you. Whether it’s soft, warm, cozy, nostalgic, or personal — bring your comfort to the runway and share it with the community.
PASĀKUMA APRAKSTS:
“Place of Comfort” Kiki balle ir komforta sajūtai veltīts notikums – tai īpašajai vietai vai mirklim, kur jūtamies droši, pieņemti un mierā ar sevi.
Baļļu kultūra vienmēr ir bijusi patvērums kvīru kopienai – vieta, kur iespējams brīvi izpausties, būt redzamam un sajust piederību. Tā ļauj ne tikai radoši izpausties un sacensties dažādās skaistuma, modes un dejas (voguing) kategorijās, bet arī piedzīvot patiesu kopienas tuvību un savstarpējo sapratni.
Komforta sajūta, tomēr, katram ir atšķirīga: kāds to var atrast vietā, atmiņā, skaņā, materiālā... Tas var būt pazīstama priekšmeta siltums vai drauga apskāviens — komforts ir tas, kas padara vietu par mājām.
