2ND BEST FEST / Angel Bones, Kinfolk, Nora Jefferies / Coalition Theater

The Coalition Theater proudly presents the 8th Annual 2ND BEST FEST—a three-day comedy extravaganza showcasing the best in improv, sketch, and stand-up. Running June 5–7, this year’s festival brings high-caliber acts from LA, Chicago, NYC, Baltimore, Raleigh, DC, and RVA to four incredible venues in Richmond’s Downtown Arts District.

This Saturday show brings a perfect blend of hilarity and seasoned skill. DC’s Kinfolk opens the night, followed by stand-up from Brooklyn-based Nora Jefferies Closing out the show is Angel Bones, a Chicago-based improv supergroup featuring veteran performers from iO, The Second City, and UCB.

Kinfolk 

Your skinfolk ain’t always your kinfolk, but this time we got lucky. Kinfolk rests at the nexus of when “you people” become “your people.” We ask the audience to share about the folks they belong to, then bring them to life on stage for your enjoyment.

Nora Jefferies 

Nora is a queer comedian based in Brooklyn, just like the rest of your friends.

She co-hosts the monthly standup showcase Sounds Great, which has been featured in Bushwick Daily. She can be found all over the country touring and performing in comedy festivals such as West End Comedy Festival, Rogue Island Comedy Festival, and the Vermont Comedy Festival, among others.

You will probably run into her in a bar basement sometime soon.

Angel Bones is an improv super group that combines the very best of Chicago improv – veteran performers who have perfected the art of present, patient, and honest improv with mixed with absurd whimsy. Angel Bones is made up of performers from iO, The Second City, and UCB.

Located in Richmond's Downtown Arts District, the nonprofit Coalition Theater is dedicated to creating an inclusive space where laughter connects people. Through performances, classes, workshops, and community partnerships, we help individuals discover their comedic voice and provide a welcoming platform to share it.
