Description:
We’d like to invite all dancers from Spokane, Coeur D’Alene, Tri-Cities, Yakima, etc. to join us in our Casino Rueda workshop! Some Salsa experience is advised. We’ll start with fundamental concepts of dancing Rueda and move through base calls and multiple variations. We aim to provide a solid base if you’re new to Rueda, and to strengthen your technique and understanding of Rueda if you are a more seasoned dancer. This workshop is for everyone!!!
The intermediate workshops will focus on more intricate fun rueda moves, while pulling from the basics we already know. Regular dancers of rueda, or completion of previous classes is recommended for entry. Feel free to reach out with any questions!!
You MUST attend the first Thursday workshop in order to attend the second weekend, as this will be progressive. Depending on the group’s commitment, we’d like to expand this beyond the first two sessions. Please plan to arrive at the studio at least 15min before class starts. Please fill out the registration form if paying by cash so we have your info.
Bios:
Jim began learning Rueda de Casino - Miami style in the early 2000’s with many instructors like Rene Gueits of Salsa Lovers, then Cuban style in the late 2010’s under instructors like Nicholas and Serena of Salsa Vale Todo. Jim has been focused on linear Salsa for more than 20 years and has spent the last 10 years training with Salsamania. Technique and musicality are his focus in all forms of Salsa; he is also a DJ for Salsa and other genres. He continues to study Cuban dance, having recently returned from the San Francisco Rueda Festival. He is ready to share his unique perspective and teaching style with the Tri-Cities.
Shannon began Cuban dancing in 2009, and immediately fell in love with the music, rhythm, and movement of Casino. She has traveled to attend workshops and festivals throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico to learn from esteemed instructors, and has had opportunities to perform as well. She is excited to assist Jim in the upcoming workshops!
