This month at True Texas Project we are hosting one of the few elected officials who consistently advocates for the taxpayer in whatever capacity he can. Chris Woolsey serves on the Corsicana City Council, is heavily involved in his local community both professionally and in volunteer efforts, and works as a commercial real estate advisor and property tax consultant. Chris will share with us what he has learned in these various positions, and talk to us about how to protest your appraisal as well as how you can affect your property tax bill at the local level. If you are a property owner, or are planning to be, you need this information!

About Chris Woolsey:
Chris Woolsey is a beginning his 4th term on Corsicana City Council and is the Executive Vice President of Casita Travel Trailers in Corsicana. Chris has worked as a property tax consultant and commercial real estate advisor, and has also managed several municipal and county political campaigns, helping get good conservatives elected at the local level. He recently served at the CD-6 Caucus Chairman at the 2024 Republican State Convention.
A consistent advocate for taxpayers on City Council, Chris has been steadily turning the tide at the local level. He was the only vote against a massive tax increase in his first year on
council, and the only vote against forcing businesses to close in the early days of COVID. He led the charge to increase police and fire funding in the middle of the national “defund the police” movement while also cutting property taxes. He proposed a “Sanctuary City for the Unborn” measure and nullifying federal vaccine mandates affecting city employees and contractors. Corsicana was also the 2nd city in Texas to install a life-saving Safe Haven Baby Box. Chris has been called to testify at the capitol on eliminating property taxes,
appraisal reform, and ending taxpayer funded lobbying. Chris has consistently voted against property tax increases and successfully passed a budget at the no new revenue rate or lower twice.
Chris graduated from Texas A&M University and is a former high school educator. He serves on the board of the Corsicana YMCA and the Navarro College Business Council. He attends First Baptist Corsicana with his wife, Courtney, where he serves as the Budget & Finance Chairman and his father-in-law is the Senior Pastor.
