Á Menningarnótt í Reykjavík býður Sinfóníuhljómsveit Íslands gestum og gangandi upp á fjölbreytta og spennandi tónleika fyrir alla fjölskylduna. Á tónleikunum í ár er það hinn fjölhæfi tónlistarmaður Unnsteinn Manuel Stefánsson sem tekur á móti gestum í Eldborg. Hann veltir m.a. fyrir sér spurningunni hvernig tónlist Sinfóníuhljómsveitin muni leika á 150 ára afmæli sínu árið 2100. Hljómsveitin fagnaði einmitt 75 ára afmæli sínu á nýliðnu starfsári. Á tónleikunum á Menningarnótt má heyra tónverk sem hafa skírskotun til framtíðarinnar, eða gerðu það á sínum tíma, eftir tónskáld eins og Jóhann Jóhannsson, Caroline Shaw, Ludwig van Beethoven og Björk. Á tónleikunum syngur hann einnig lagið Glow sem hljómsveitin Retro Stefson gerði vinsælt á sínum tíma.
Aðgangur á tónleikana er ókeypis og eru öll hjartanlega velkomin.

During Reykjavík Culture Night, the Iceland Symphony Orchestra offers guests and passersby a variety of exciting concerts for the whole family. This year, the versatile musician Unnsteinn Manuel Stefánsson will welcome guests to Eldborg hall. He will ponder the question of what kind of music the Symphony Orchestra will play on its 150th anniversary in the year 2100. The orchestra celebrated its 75th anniversary this year. At the Culture Night concerts, you can hear compositions that allude to the future, or did so in their time, by composers such as Jóhann Jóhannsson, Caroline Shaw, Ludwig van Beethoven and Björk. He will also perform the song Glow which was made popular by the band Retro Stefson.
Admission to the concert is free and everyone is welcome.
Tickets are available at sinfonia.is and at the Harpa box office on the day of the concert from 10:00.
