OGFF- Day 2 - The Sounds of Mongol Nutag by KHAIRKHAN

Event title: The Sounds of Mongol Nutag. Performance at 16:30-17:30 on the 3rd of May.

The second day of Other-Grounds Film Festival is dedicated to the Knowledge-Gathering and will be closed by storytelling performance by KHAIRKHAN.

KHAIRKHAN is an Inner Mongolian musician from the Khorqin Tribe in the east side of Inner Mongolia and lives in Reykjavík, Iceland. He grew up in the famous Khorqin grasslands with rich folk music and stories.

KHAIRKHAN focuses on traditional Mongolian instruments such as morin khuur, tsuur and tovshuur, also Mongolian throat singing as one of his main performances. The folk music he plays is mainly from Khorqin region, where a great amount of Mongolian folk music and genres were born, but also the folk music from other tribes from west as well.

Currently KHAIRKHAN is trying to create a new concept of experimental Mongolian folk music as a 21st century nomad lives in the city, there is a meaning of keeping the roots passed down through centuries but in a modern method.

This event is free of charge. Everyone is welcome to join.
Accessibility in Elissa auditorium is good, there is a low threshold into the hall. On the same floor is a toilet with good access and changing facilities.
