New Frontiers er alþjóðleg ráðstefna um flóttafólk og hælisleitendur þar sem lögð er sérstök áhersla á reynslu barna og ungmenna.
Ráðstefnan verður haldin í Sögu, nýju húsnæði Menntavísindasviðs Háskóla Íslands dagana 31. október og 1. nóvember 2025.

Á ráðstefnunni verður sjónum beint að reynslu og upplifun flóttafólks um allan heim.
Skipuleggjendur ráðstefnunnar eru þverfaglegt teymi fræðimanna sem hlaut Öndvegisstyrk frá Rannsóknasjóði (Rannís) til að rannsaka reynslu flóttafólks frá Sýrlandi og Írak, sem kom til landsins á árunum 2016–2021. Í rannsókninni er athygli sérstaklega beint að börnum og ungmennum. Meðal viðfangsefna rannsóknarinnar eru menntun, annarsmálsfræði og tungumálanám, vellíðan, samfélagslegt net, traust og aðgengi að úrræðum og þjónustu. Hér er heimasíða ESRCI verkefnisins:

The international conference, New Frontiers on refugees and asylum seekers, with special emphasis on the experiences of children and young people, will be held at Saga, the new premises of the School of Education at the University of Iceland, on 31 October and 1 November 2025.

The conference will focus on the experiences of refugees around the world.
The organizers of this conference are a team of inter-disciplinary scholars who received a major, multi-year grant from the Icelandic Research Fund to research the inclusion of resettlement refugees from Syria and Iraq who arrived in Iceland between 2016–2021 with special attention on the children and youth. Among the topics that this project explores are second-language acquisition, education, well-being, social networks, trust, and access to resources and services.
