We welcome you to this special chant and song study with the group Txana Reu Keneya of the Huni Kuin people.
The Huni Kuin are an indigenous tribe based in the Amazon forest. They speak their own ancient language, Hantxa Kuin, which is considered to hold special keys and codes for healing and transformation.
The word Txana comes from one of the most sacred bird in the Amazon forest. This intelligent bird has a special ability to listen, learn and repeat the sounds of the forest. The people that have been initiated as Txanas become messengers of the forest and transmitters of the sacred as the chants are a form of communication with the ancestors, animals, nature and the world of Spirit.
These beautiful representatives of their tradition will be teaching one traditional chant and some of their favorite songs accompanied with instruments. We welcome all levels of experience in singing and playing as this will be an intimate community setting at our beloved Mama where we learn together. If you have a guitar, drum and/or shakers please bring, we will have some extra to share.
