Intro To Rock Climbing

Join volunteer leaders Katee Pederson and Sara Thompson to learn to rock climb! This event is for people who are new to top rope climbing and want to learn crag safety, partner communication, how to tie-in, and how to top rope belay on a gri-gri. You will not learn how to lead climb, lead belay, build/set anchors, or clean anchors. No previous climbing experience required. Equipment requirements: Must have climbing shoes, harness, and helmet. Chalk bag and belay gloves recommended. Club can loan harness & helmet to two participants. Potential hazards include: Rockfall and/or icefall, General Hazards, Falls & Belaying. To register, submit info on this google form: https://forms.gle/KREf56ZoYK1BNFE26 by May 1. Qualified applicants will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Location and start times will be communicated to participants via email. Cost is $10. Must be a member of the Alpine Club - Columbia Mountains Section
