About the event

Science Sunday - Nuclear Reactors
Join us for Science Sunday in the UUCR Sanctuary on Sunday, July 13th after service and coffee hour. All are welcome!

Nuclear reactors are some of the most complicated machines humans have ever constructed. In this presentation, we will journey from reaction, to reactor, to power plant to explore the history and science behind these machines and their viability in a world transitioning to renewable energy sources.

Patton George is a graduate of the Colorado School of Mines where he studied Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering. He currently works for Bechtel here in Reston where he works on the Natrium Project to design and construct a nuclear power plant in conjunction with TerraPower.
