Every Saturday in July, we will feature two amazing History talks from 1-2pm and 2:30-3:30pm at our community partner's location. Our Artown talks are free to the public.

Fighting Fire with Fire

Learn about the history of firefighting on the Comstock.

These were the steam fire engines of the Gold Hill and Virginia Fire Departments, technological advancements that set the standard for other Nevada fire departments and gave the Comstock’s men in red shirts and leather helmets a great advantage over the “Fire beast.” Most of the time.

Learn about the power of steam engines with guest speaker Steven Frady, historian, author, former fire chief, and Nevada state fire marshal.
