Jk2025n07: Best of '25
We’re excited to announce this upcoming Jazz kissa featuring a curated selection of music that was released in the year 2025. That's right, a full retrospective of the jazz and jazz-adjacent releases that have caught our attention over the past year. Expect to hear tracks from labels like Blue Note, International Anthem, Colemine Records, Daptone Records, Big Crown, Ultraaaani, We Jazz, Jazz Aggression, and more...
As is tradition, the night will close with a full vinyl playthrough of the 2025 release from Tokyo-based saxophonist, Sinsuke Fujieda, titled “Fukushima”. Released April 30th on Superfly Records, it launched the modern-day record collecting community into a whirlwind by vanishing instantly upon release and causing sales prices on the used market to escalate to unfathomable heights. Thankfully it is being re-released soon and includes performances by a first-rate sextet active across different scenes, the music recalls the cool, deeply atmospheric sound of 1970s modal and spiritual jazz, while weaving in subtle elements of classical, world, and East Asian musical traditions.
