Mishima is a Japanese technique where designs are incised into leather hard clay, wax applied to the surface keep the lines crisp, and then the lines are filled with a contrasting coloured slip. When the excess is wiped away the design remains and the pot is fired.
Sarah Sullivan from Red Pottery and Gallery in Redruth will be teaching us her mishima technique, working on leather-hard hand thrown pieces from her wheel.
This is perfect if you have attended one of our previous sgraffito workshops, but also completely accessible for beginners. We will have ideas on hand to help you create a design, and Sarah will show you all her tips and tricks to make it come to life.
All materials and firings are included, and if you would like to make more than one, we will have further pots available for purchase at £15.
