Too often, adults teach kids about social media from a place of fear—warnings passed down by other worried parents and caregivers. While online safety is essential, constant negative messaging can push kids to tune out entirely.

Instead of lectures, kids respond best to supportive guidance and trusted adults who show genuine interest in their online lives. When parents engage with the apps, games, and platforms their kids love, it opens the door for honest conversations—and makes it far more likely kids will speak up when something goes wrong.
