Lewis County residents can properly drop off household hazardous materials and recycle a variety of items at a Community Recycle Event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 27, unless otherwise noted, at the Lewis County Area 7 (Kiona) Road Shop at 8911 US Highway 12 in Randle. Please do not line up early along the highway!
The following opportunities will be available:
E-Cycle Collection:
All flatscreen televisions, other TVs that are 42 inches or smaller, computer monitors and CPUs will be recycled. Each household is limited to 2 items.
Household Hazardous Waste Collection:
Drop off unwanted household paints, pesticides, and other chemicals for free so they can be recycled, or disposed of, properly.
Limits:
• 10 fluorescent or compact fluorescent lights
• All automotive fluids: 5 gallons
• 5 gallons cooking oil
• No containers larger than 5 gallons
• No PaintCare items. Please check PaintCare.org for locations and items.
Appliance and Scrap Metal Recycling:
Any item that is more than 75 percent metal. Please drain fluids from motors before recycling. Appliances, such as refrigerators, freezers, stoves, washers, dryers, hot water heaters, a/c units, and dish washers, are accepted, but there is a limit of 2 large appliances per household.
Yard Waste Drop Off:
Residents may bring grass clippings, leaves, and branches. Please unload into the container. No plastic bags, please empty content of yard waste bags into container and dispose of bags in your curbside garbage container. No noxious weeds.
*Sensitive Document Shredding from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.*:
Customers may bring in up to 3 grocery bags of sensitive documents they would like to have shredded for free. The shredded paper will be taken to a paper recycling facility to be made into new paper.
