The Community Recycle Event is open to all Lewis County residents. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.*, unless otherwise noted, at the old Meskill Drop Box at 3127 State Route 6, west of Chehalis. Please do not line up early along the highway!
Residential customers will be able to drop off the following for recycling and proper disposal:
E-Cycle Collection:
All flatscreen televisions, other TVs that are 42 inches or smaller, computer monitors and
CPUs will be recycled. Each household is limited to 2 items.
Household Hazardous Waste Collection:
Drop off unwanted lawn or pool chemicals, cleaners, motor oil, antifreeze or pesticides, or other household chemicals for free so they can be recycled, or disposed of, properly. Because this is a remote event, workers will not be able to empty containers brought to the event, and return them to customers. Customers must be prepared to leave their containers at the event.
Limits and restrictions:
• Containers must be left at the event
• 10 fluorescent or CFL lights
• All automotive fluids: 5 gallons
• 5 gallons cooking oil
• No containers larger than 5 gallons
• No paint
• No PaintCare items. Please check PaintCare.org to learn items that are accepted in the PaintCare program as well as PaintCare locations around Lewis County.
Appliance and Scrap Metal Recycling:
Any item that is more than 75 percent metal. Please drain fluids from motors before recycling. Appliances, such as refrigerators, freezers, stoves, washers, dryers, hot water heaters, and dish washers, are accepted, but there is a limit of 2 large appliances per household. For microwaves, please remove the glass turntable and throw it away prior to the event.
Yard Waste Drop Off:
Residents may bring grass clippings, leaves, and branches. No plastic bags, please empty the content of yard waste bags into container and dispose of bags in your curbside garbage container. No noxious weeds.
*Sensitive Document Shredding from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.*:
Customers may bring up to 3 grocery bags of sensitive documents they would like to have shredded for free. The shredded paper will be taken to a paper recycling facility to be
made into new paper.
