About the event

Beer and Cider Stroll: Discovering Whitaker Mill’s Watering Holes
Kick off your July 4 week celebration with a beer and cider tour in Raleigh’s Whitaker Mill neighborhood. Taps & Corks Tours will lead a Saturday, June 28, tasting at two local watering holes – Lynnwood Brewing Concern and East Bower Cider Co. Find out how this area is becoming a go-to space for beer and cider lovers!

We’ll meet at 1 pm for beer tasting and light appetizers at Lynnwood Brewing Concern, or you can order lunch here from Wilson’s on your own. Next, we’ll walk about a block to East Bower Cider Co., Raleigh’s first cidery, for more tasting. If the afternoon is pleasant, we’ll spend some time on the patio. Afterward, you can explore other food and drink options in the area independently.

Along the way, we’ll explore the history of craft beer in Raleigh and North Carolina. Did you know that Isaac Hunter’s tavern, not far from Whitaker Mill, played a critical role in Raleigh becoming our state capitol in the late 1700s? Find out why!

Your guide is Natalie Hampton, owner of Taps & Corks Tours. Natalie has been writing about North Carolina beer and wine for 12 years on the Tarheel Taps & Corks blog. She enjoys sharing her passion for North Carolina beer through walking tours and always looks forward to seasonal beers and ciders.

Note: You must be 21 to participate. Tour is rain or shine. Wear good shoes for walking and clothing appropriate for the weather – we’ll be outside for at least part of our exploration. Plan to arrive at the brewery 10-15 minutes early to park at Loading Dock and locate the group. Parking can be challenging, so plan accordingly.
