Hatchet: Outdoor Survival Discussion

Join Fort Selden Historic Site’s Ranger Mike on Sat., May 17, 10 - 11 a.m. for a discussion and demonstration of basic outdoor survival techniques inspired by the book "Hatchet," by Gary Paulsen.

Did you know that the author, Gary Paulsen, lived in Tularosa, NM? Ranger Mike will connect survival skills from the book to the challenges soldiers at Fort Selden endured while out on patrol. Feel free to bring your own copy of "Hatchet" to follow along, as Ranger Mike will be reading various passages and providing his own personal experience in outdoor survival.

This program is included as part of general admission of $5 per adult. Free for children 16 years and younger, NM disabled veterans, NM foster families, and MNMF members.
