Beginner’s dance lesson at 7:00 pm.
Social Dancing to follow.
Open to everyone: no experience necessary, no partner necessary, no age requirement! Whether you're a seasoned dancer or a first-timer, the evening will include a beginner's lesson at 7:00 PM to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and has fun on the dance floor. Following the lesson, the evening will continue with social dancing, featuring mostly West Coast Swing music but also including some Jazz, Ballroom, and Latin tunes to keep the energy lively and varied.
The events are free to attend, aimed at gauging interest in the possibility of regular West Coast Swing dance nights in Quincy. This is a great opportunity to get involved and see if this type of dance community can take root in the area. There will, however, be a place to donate cash to Hannibal Area Swing Association at the venue. If you don’t use cash, you can Venmo @HASADance or visit Hannibaldance.com.
Food & Beverage Details: Guests are welcome to bring their own food to enjoy during the event. Alcohol as well as non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase at the venue. Consumption of alcohol will be limited to patrons 21+ so bring your I.D. Those under 21 are welcome to still come and dance. No outside drinks please.
Come join us for an exciting evening of dancing, music, and community! We encourage both experienced dancers and beginners to attend and help us make these events a success.
What is West Coast Swing?
West Coast Swing is a modern, partner-based dance style with roots in Swing, Lindy Hop, and other jazz-era dances. Known for its smooth and elastic feel, West Coast Swing is danced to a wide range of music, including contemporary pop, blues, and swing. It’s a dance that emphasizes improvisation, musicality, and connection between partners. Whether you're an experienced dancer or someone who's never danced before, West Coast Swing offers something for everyone.
