About the event

"They Yet Live, and Live Forever": The Passing of John Adams & Thomas Jefferson
Join the National Park Service for a special guided tour that chronicles the lattermost days, deaths, and legacies of two Founding Fathers, whose words and actions continue to echo from their departure to our present day. Learn about the facts of a day that sometimes proves that truth is stranger than fiction and understand how a young nation handled the passing of its founding era.

This guided tour will take visitors through the Old House at Peace field, where John Adams was living at the time of his death, and the Stone Library. This tour is 45 minutes in length. This tour does NOT include the Adams Farm at Penn’s Hill (the John Adams and John Quincy Adams Birthplaces). Tours will be held at 11:00am, 1:00pm, and 3:00pm on Saturday, June 28, and Sunday, June 29.

Reservations for this special tour and other guided tours are required for all visitors (adults, including passholders, and children) and may be obtained in person at the Visitor Center on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the tour. You must have a daily park entrance pass, an annual park entrance pass, or a valid Interagency pass or to enter the park’s historic buildings in addition to any tour reservations you make. You can purchase entrance passes in person at the Visitor Center. Self-guided tours of the Adams Farm at Penn's Hill are also available and do not require reservations, only entrance passes.

There are no restroom facilities available in the historic buildings. You cannot bring backpacks, luggage, large bags (over 9" x 11" x 5"), or strollers in the historic buildings and there are no locker facilities available. The historic buildings are not temperature controlled, so expect hot and humid conditions over the summer. You cannot vape or smoke on park property. Food and drinks are not allowed in the historic buildings. Tours may be modified or cancelled for visitor safety and adverse weather conditions or due to staff availability.

The park provides a free trolley to transport visitors on a loop between the Visitor Center, the Adams Farm at Penn’s Hill, and the Old House at Peace field. Street parking is available at both locations. Whether you use the trolley or arrange your own transportation, you are responsible for leaving ample time to travel between park sites.

Please visit the park website or call the Visitor Center at 617-770-1175 for more information.
