KarapaTRANS: A Transpinay Summit on Trans Rights, Justice, and Futures
4–5 September 2025
Commission on Human Rights of the Philippines
The Philippines has yet to legally recognise transpinays' identities, protect us from violence, and ensure equal access to education, work, and healthcare. But transpinays continue to rise, refusing invisibility and claiming our rightful place in society.
This two-day summit, organised by the Society of Trans Women of the Philippines (STRAP) in partnership with the Commission on Human Rights of the Philippines, UP Center for Women's and Gender Studies, PFIP - Philippine Financial & Inter-Industry Pride, HASH - HIV & AIDS Support House, Inc, and testmnl.org, is our launching pad for planning, responding and resisting the crises confronting transpinays today.
We will:
- Strengthen the campaign for the Simplified Legal Gender Recognition Bill
- Confront the epidemic of transfemicide and anti-trans violence
- Build strategies for trans-inclusive education, healthcare, and decent work
- Forge solidarity across feminist, LGBTQIA+, and human rights movements

Together, we envision a future where transpinays live free, recognised, and thriving.
