In celebration of the 75th founding anniversary of the UP Library Science Alumni Association, Inc. (UP LSAA, Inc.), the 𝟭𝟰𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗠 (𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘂𝗺𝘀) seminar-workshop will convene information professionals, scholars, advocates, and students for a one-day learning and capacity-building event focused on digital preservation and access.
With the theme “𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘁, 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 — 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻,” ALAM 2025 explores the dynamic intersection of memory, technology, and access. As we move deeper into the digital age, institutions and individuals alike are faced with the urgent need to preserve cultural heritage and institutional memory through sustainable and ethical digital archiving practices.
In line with the UP LSAA’s legacy of leadership and service in the field of library and information science, this event provides a venue for professional exchange and practical learning on topics such as:
✅ File format characterization and digital curation
✅ Trends and ethical concerns in digital archiving
✅ Community-driven digital memory projects
✅ Tools and platforms for sustainable digital preservation
✅ Hands-on workshops on file formatting, metadata, and digital access design
The seminar-workshop seeks to equip participants with critical knowledge and skills that will help shape the future of archives, libraries, and museums as active agents of memory, participation, and justice in a rapidly changing information landscape.
As we celebrate the UP LSAA’s 75th year of collective growth and service, ALAM 2025 also serves as a tribute to the association’s enduring commitment to advancing LIS education and practice in the Philippines and beyond.
